WHAT WE CAN KNOW

Taken from I JOHN

WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE BECAUSE:

1. It is written. 5:13

2. We keep His commandments. 2:3, 5:2

3. His word is perfected in us. 2:5

4. We practice righteousness. 3:10

5. We love the brethren. 3:14

6. He laid down His life for us. 3:16

7. We love in deed and truth. 3:19

8. The Spirit has been given to us. 3:24, 4:13

9. Our spirit confesses that Jesus has come in the flesh. 4:2

10. We hear John and the apostles. 4

11. We love God and keep His commandments.

IN THIS LETTER, JOHN TALKS A LOT ABOUT WHAT WE KNOW OR HAVE KNOWN.

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

By this we know that we are in Him.

But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning.

I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father.

I have written to you fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning.

Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.

And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

By this you know the Spirit of God: "Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.

He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us.

By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

By this we know that we abide in Him, and He is us, because He has given us of His spirit.

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not tough him.

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an under-standing, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ.
