TRAVEL TIPS ~ Pack everything in plastic bags. That way, if customs goes through your luggage, everything doesn't get wrinkled and it's easier for you to repack. If you'll be moving from hotel to hotel, you won’t have to unpack everything each time. You could even put everything for each day in one bag. If you need bags larger than what you can find in the grocery store, go to the Container Store. ~ Follow airline guidelines concerning liquids and what you can and can't have on your person or in your carry-on. ~ Arrange airport transfers in advance. Hotel and airport transports and registered taxis’ are the safest. Do not get into a car with someone offering to take you where you need to go for a cheap price. ~ Be sure to pack in your carry-on everything you could get by with if your luggage doesn't arrive when you do. Plan for 1-2 days without your checked luggage. Never carry medications in your checked luggage. ~ Make 2 copies of the ID page of your passport and the front and back of your driver's license, all credit cards, your medical information, insurance information, and travel itinerary including all transportation, transfers and contact information. Have the originals on your person around your neck inside your shirt or blouse or in a leg purse. Do not carry these in your billfold, pocket or purse. Carry one copy of each in your carry-on luggage and give copies of everything to your main contact person (the one you'd contact in case of an emergency). I make a third copy to leave at home in case my contact person isn't available and I let another person know where it is. ~ Prepare a "code word" to give to your family if you have to call them in an emergency. Example: Aunt Martha. ~ Put the bulk of your money plus your license, credit cards, passport, etc. in a pouch around your neck or leg. In your wallet, carry expired credit cards and a little cash. If you are mugged, the robbers get your fake wallet and you will still have your money and information. ~ Look at what you carry in your wallet or billfold through the eyes of a terrorist. You want there to be as little information about you or your job as possible. ~ Do not wear or carry expensive jewelry. Wear a Wal-Mart watch, costume jewelry and inexpensive clothes. ~ In a foreign country do not wear hats or T-shirts that have any words on them associating you with police, government, border patrol, etc. Doing so makes you a prime target for abduction. ~ Make sure you have international access on your cell phone. Put the phone number of the U.S. Embassy in your cell phone. If you don’t have a cell phone, carry a calling card and pertinent phone numbers. ~Don't talk about your plans or personal information at the airport, in the plane, the hotel lobby or front desk - the places where you are the most vulnerable. You don't need anyone to overhear and gain information about you. In many countries that are antagonistic to America, your room might be bugged as well so be careful when and where you talk about sensitive issues. Ask the Lord to "encapsulate" these kinds of conversations. ~ Watch your luggage at all times. When in the airport waiting area put your carry-on pieces between your legs with a strap around your leg so you'll feel it if someone grabs it. ~ Walk with purpose, as if you know where you’re going. ~ When the door of the airplane is shut, quietly but out loud, take authority over all spirits on the plane, telling them that, in the Name of Jesus, they cannot manifest either on the plane or at either airport. Ask Holy Spirit to fill that plane with the sweet-smelling fragrance of Jesus; invite and welcome the angels of God to accompany you. ~ In your hotel, make sure your room is between the 2nd & 7th floors. The first floor provides easy access to criminals. Fire equipment in most countries will not go any higher than the 7th floor. ~ If you are in a foreign country change your room assignment after you get there even if you've been given a room between the 2ed and 7th floors. This will hinder anyone who has made advance plans against you. After a week, change rooms. ~ Do not walk around in the halls of the hotel alone. Ask for hotel assistance with your bags when you arrive and when you leave. Pay attention to where the emergency exits are and the general layout of the hotel. ~ As soon as you enter the room, declare that you are now taking occupancy and authority of the room in the name of Jesus and command all spirits, oaths and vows to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He came in the flesh or leave. Send them to the feet of Jesus. Since we now know that all matter has memory, speak to the matter that makes up the room and its furnishings and dismiss all memory of everything raised up against the knowledge of God. Then put into it praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Tell the Holy Spirit that He's welcome in that room and ask Him to please make it a heavenly sanctuary such that a deposit will be left in the room for the next person who uses the room after you leave. When you go to bed, if you begin to have lustful thoughts, pray the same way again specifically over the bed. Sometimes the power of evil is stronger on/in the bed depending on what transpired there previously. It works! ~ As soon as you get to your room, put the "do not disturb" sign on the outside of the door. Even when you leave the room, place the "do not disturb" sign on the door and leave the TV on so it will appear that you are in the room. ~ After checking into your room, prepare a fanny pack or something you can grab instantly in case of fire or terrorists. Place inside your basic medications, cell phone, passports, etc. - the kind of stuff you'd want to have should you be required to leave your room quickly. When you are in your room, put it where you could grab it easily on your way out. ~ Vary your routine and how you go in and out of the hotel. Always be alert and watch the people around you. If you see the same person three times in three different locations, call the police or the US Embassy. If you are in a group, assign those walking on the right side of the group to guard that side, those on the left side to guard that side and those in the rear to pay attention to what is going on behind the group and who is there. In other words, give everyone an assignment to pay attention. ~ Women, guard your purse! Keep it close to your body and even when it is on your shoulder or arm; hold onto it with your hand as well. Men, keep your wallet in a front pocket. ~ Carry your room key with you; don't leave it at the front desk even if it is big and bulky. You don't want to advertise that you are not in your room.
