THE WARRIOR BRIDE When we become born again, we move from simply being created by God into His family. Together, as a corporate body, the Bible calls us the Bride of Christ. Our life here on earth is a preparation for the time when Jesus will come back to take us to the heavenly wedding and we’ll enjoy the bridal feast. What fun! We have a lot to look forward to. But have you ever noticed that life here on earth isn’t always easy? In fact, sometimes, it’s just plain hard, isn’t it? That’s because, down through the ages since Adam and Even rebelled against the Lord, sin entered the world and Satan gained authority. The moment you were born again into the family of God, you also entered a holy war. A war between good and evil. Two thousand years ago, Jesus dropped a bomb when He conquered sin, death and the grave. Ever since, each successive generation of believers has been an extension of the power of God against the Kingdom of darkness. We’re the Bride of Christ but we’re also in the war so we must learn what it means to be a warrior bride. How’s the best way to fight in that war? The Scripture says that before anyone goes to war, they need to have a battle plan. A strategy for how to win victory. You need victory in your own life, in your family, in your neighborhood, your city and your country. First of all, in any battle plan, you need to know who and where the enemy is. You need to know what your weapons are and how to use them. And you need to know who your allies are and how to connect with them. Much can be written on this subject but to begin with, we need to recognize that the enemy is Satan. However, Satan cannot be everywhere all at once. God can but he can’t. However, he has a bunch of demons and demonic powers at his disposal. According to Scripture, the job of Satan and his demons is to kill, steal and destroy. They, the enemy do this anyway they can – by lying to us, tricking us, deceiving us, belittling us, and by keeping us ignorant of how much God loves us and what God’s provided for us. Satan wants to keep us ignorant of what the Word of God says and how intimate God wants to be with us. Tools you need to have in your arsenal to fight this war include uncovering some of the ways Satan has lied to you and deceived you. You need to know about the power of the blood of Christ, the armor of God and the authority God has given you. You need practical tools and scriptures, that will help you overcome obstacles in your life. You need to be released from shame, generational curses and learn how to be more effective in ministering to your allies - one another. We cannot do this in our own strength. But as we pray with other believers and seek God diligently, He will teach us and guide us into all that we need. How can I say this so confidently? Because, God has given each of us a place to live and a territory to claim. The moment you became a believer, God gave you a family made up of other believers. And families live some where. Some live in India, or Africa or South America. I live in the United States of American. Our territory is where we live. Our family, our neighborhood, our city, our country. When we come together as brothers and sisters, we open up our homes to each other. By inviting believers to come into your life, you give them the right to be who they are and share what they have. By coming, they, in turn, receive who you are and what you have. For this period of time, this week, we share with you, the territory, the space, God has given you on this planet. So what we really want to do is recognize our territory, accept the territory God has given us, and claim it for the Lord Jesus Christ. God told Joshua, "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you.” Joshua 1:3 This promise applies to us today. At any point in time, look at your feet and ask yourself, “Where are my feet?” Wherever they are, that’s a place that God wants you to claim for His kingdom. He wants you willing to be the Warrior Bride He’s called you to be and see the Kingdom of God come to that place where your feet are standing. Every time you leave a corporate gathering of God's family, He wants you to be dressed as His most beautiful bride, but you’re to be a bride who has combat boots on under her dress. By God’s grace and with your prayers, we will be dressed and equipped to follow our Commander-In-Chief as His Warrior Bride. So step up, step out and put those boots on!
