The following was spoken to me by the Lord in 2003. It is given here exactly as He spoke it. Let Me tell you about freedom. Freedom is not being tied to the past or the way things were. Freedom is not constantly looking in the future. Freedom is taking today and doing the most with it. Freedom is living in the present. It does not rule out learning from the past and building on what has gone before. Neither does it ignore the future. It is just not living in either place. Only when you are free can you love fully, enjoy completely and laugh heartily. When I said a woman is free if her unbelieving husband leaves her, I mean that she is not bound by the past. He does not bind her and neither do I. (1 Cor. 7:15) “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36) Look at that! It’s talking about being set free from the slavery of sin! Freedom is moving from the position of being a slave to being a son! “A slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever!” (vs. 35) Freedom is living in the Father’s house! Enjoying all that the Father has! Freedom is being the head and not the tail. Freedom is carrying greater responsibility but it is also having all the resources to carry out that responsibility. Freedom is the state of being when you no longer carry condemnation around on your shoulders. (Rom 8:1) It is a state of law. Condemnation lives in the state of lawlessness. Read about the state of lawlessness in 2 Thess 2:7-12. Notice that it is a work of Satan that has to do with delusion and believing the lie “that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth…” (vs. 12) But “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) Truth is found by abiding in Jesus (John 14:6 - “I am the way, the truth and the life.”) Jesus, who is Truth said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32) Jesus said to abide in His word and He Himself is the word. (John 1:1,14) So you see, freedom is not possible without Jesus. When you are in Jesus and when you walk according to the Spirit, then you leave the state of lawlessness and come under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and that alone and powerfully sets you “free from the law of sin and death.” (Rom. 8:2) So you see that it was “for freedom that Christ has made you free; stand fast therefore. Do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Gal. 5:1) so you have to be set free again! You can see this truth played out in the history of America. The further this nation has gone away from Jesus, the more bondage it has come under. When people run from the law of the Spirit, they loose their freedom (that they think they’re gaining) and they move into the state of lawlessness where they find nothing but condemnation. Freedom is impossible without Me. Freedom is not democracy. Freedom can breed democracy. But democracy is not automatically freedom. Democracy can breed just as much bondage as a dictatorship can. If Americans truly want Iraq to be a free country, they must do more than send soldiers and peacekeepers. How can you be a peacekeeper without peacemakers? And how can you make peace without the Prince of Peace? I called you to be peacemakers (Matt 5:9) not peace keepers. Being a peacemaker is about transferring people from the kingdom of dark to the kingdom of life. A peacekeeper simply makes people quiet down. There is no change. It just gets quiet. As you learn with children, quiet can mean trouble. Quiet is not peace. Quiet can lead to peace if the right elements are there, but it is not automatic.
