FINANCIAL INTEGRITY The following was spoken to me by the Lord on July 4, 2003 while at a "conference" with just the Lord, my Bible, pen and paper. I give it here exactly as He spoke it into my heart. "Financial integrity means keeping your financial commitments. You will find no where in scripture where I permit or give permission to someone to break a pledge, a promise or a commitment, even if they made the pledge, promise or commitment outside of My will. You must learn to trust Me to enable you to keep your commitments when circumstances look bleak. Though there are many examples of My judgment toward the breaking of promises, you need look no further than Acts 5:1-11 to find My judgment against the lack of financial integrity toward a ministry. Pay attention to vs. 11 and follow this verse. When times get rough, people are going to reap the consequences of how they’ve handled their money during the good times. Especially My people. And especially how they’ve treated ministries dear to My heart. “As you sow, so shall you reap” means not just how much you give, but how you give it. Is it given in honesty and faithfulness? Do you give with integrity? When you give regularly to a ministry do you skip a month every now and then? When you stop giving to a ministry do you warn them ahead of time or just abruptly stop? That’s what I mean by giving with integrity. Are you being fair to each ministry you give to? Do you treat that ministry as you would want to be treated? How do you want your provision when times are tough? Sporadic or regular? With joy or begrudgingly? Generously or stingily? Paul told the Philippians he was grateful for their continued financial assistance even after he left their region. But he was even happier because he knew what that did for their own financial and spiritual account. (Phil. 4:16-19) Spiritually, their gift was an acceptable, sweet-smelling sacrifice that pleased God. But it also unleashed financial supply just waiting for when they had a need. The only difference was that they would not receive the same amount they’d given. That word “supply” in vs. 19 literally means to cram, to over-meet. That’s what giving regularly, faithfully, generously and with integrity to a God-ordained ministry will produce. How do you want to receive?
