DOES GOD CAUSE EVIL OR CALAMITY?

This is a very controversial subject. As you study the below-listed scriptures, if you choose to come to a conclusion on this very enigmatic subject, make sure that you consider the passage in context. Then, ask the following questions:

1. Is there a redemptive quality to this incident?

2. Has the person already hardened his heart to the "point of no return?"

3. Is there a "point of no return" when a person is so rebellious or hardened by his own choices that God can do nothing with him but for the benefit of another?

3. What has God tried to do or say to the individual in the past that would have prevented this action?

4. What is the motive of God? Does it appear that He had a broader purpose in mind or was He simply being mean-spirited?

5. How does my conclusion line up with the positive promises of God and the fact that He is "not willing for any to perish but that all should come to repentance"? 2 Peter 3:9
